RED WINGIs it とは?

1905年にチャールズ・H・ベックマン（Charles H. BECKMAN）が創立したアメリカミネソタ州発祥のブーツブランドです。そのころ、発祥地でもあるレッドウィングという街にはいろいろなインディアンの種族が住んでいて、ブランド名はその土地を治めていたスー族の大曾長ワクタ・レッドウィング（Wakuta RED WING）から名付けられました。14人の仲間と共に「Red Wing Shoe Company」という名の小さな工場を立ち上げ、現在もアメリカ国内での生産にこだわっています。「いい革を使ってこそ、いい靴がつくれるのだ」をモットーとするクオリティの高さと機能性に加え、抑えた値段設定が世界中のワークブーツを代表するブランドへと成長させました。日本ではレッドウィングジャパン (Red Wing Japan) が輸入や企画・生産などを行っていて、アメリカのレッドウィング社とは型番やモデルが違うものとなっています。
