1982年にジャン・プルーヴォ（Jean PROUVOST）が創立したフランスのアパレルブランドです。知的で洗練された世界各国の女性が愛読する、1937年に創刊した「マリ・クレール（marie claire）」のブランド力を生かし、レディース、メンズラインのアパレルを展開してきました。「シンプルベーシック」をテーマに、いつの時代も新鮮なディテールと上質感を活かしたデザインが特徴です。1980年代からはハンドバッグブランドなども登場し、シューズやネクタイ、時計や財布、ゴルフウエアなどのスポーツアイテムなど多岐にわたり展開しています。とくにパーティドレスやスーツなどのフォーマルウエアは、入園、入学式の装いとして、人気を集めています。また2008年には1953年設立のクロスプラス株式会社（CROSS PLUS INC.）が「マリ・クレールビス」を発表し、30代の女性をターゲットにした、気取りのないリアルクローズとストールやバッグ、アクセサリーなどの小物でトータルコーディネートが楽しめる、カジュアルラインをスタートさせました。
