MARC BY MARC JACOBSIs it とは?

1986年に米国オンワード樫山の支援で創業したブランド「マーク・ジェイコブス」が、2001年にセカンドラインとして発表したブランド。レディースウエアを中心に革小物やシューズ、アイウエアまで幅広いアイテムが揃っています。「マーク・ジャイコブス」に比べるとポップな色遣いやカジュアルなデザインが特徴で価格もリーズナブルに。デザイナーで創立者のマーク・ジェイコブスは、1997年からルイ・ヴィトンのプレタポルテのデザイナーも兼任し、「ルイ・ヴィトン」が、老舗としてだけでなくファッションブランドとしても絶対的な地位を築いたことに大きく貢献したといわれています。彼は、デザイナーとして最初に大きな契約を交わした相手が日本企業だったために親日家。2003年にルイ・ヴィトンのモノグラムラインで日本人アーティストの村上隆とコラボしたバッグを発表したことも話題になりました。また、2007年に原宿にフラッグシップショップがオープン。
