GOYARDIs it とは?

「GOYARD」は1853年にパリ・サントノレ通りに1号店を出した、老舗の高級トランクメーカー・ブランド。1860年に開発された“トワル・ゴヤール”はリネン、コットン、麻の混紡に天然アラビアゴムでカバーをした耐久、耐水性に優れたキャンバス地で、今もなお愛用されています。1892年には「GOYARD」と樹木を意味したYのイニシャルモチーフが登場し、ブランドアイコンとして広く認知されました。創業以来、最高級の旅行鞄専門店として確固たる地位を築いており、小説家のアーサー・コナン・ドイルなどの歴史的著名人から、現代ではデザイナーのカール・ラガーフェルド、マドンナ、そしてウィンザー公を始めとしたロイヤルファミリーまで、錚々たる顔触れが顧客に名を連ねています。日本では、2003年新宿伊勢丹にショップがオープン。近年ではイニシャルペイントを入れられるトートバッグが大人気で、数ヶ月の入荷待ちといった社会現象になったことも。
