日本のファッションデザイナー・川久保玲が1969年に設立したプレタポルテ（高級既製服）ブランドです。山本耀司、三宅一生(イッセイ ミヤケ)など世界から注目を集める日本人デザイナーと並び、80年代のDCブランドブームを引っ張る立役者となりました。そのファッションは服の表面にねじれや歪み、アシンメトリーといった大胆なデザインを用いた独特でアバンギャルドなスタイルが特徴です。その後、渡辺淳弥、栗原たお、丸龍文人の3人のデザイナーが加わり、84年にコレクションラインの「COMME des GARCONS HOMME PLUS」、87年にビジネススーツラインの「COMME des GARCONS HOMME DEUX」、92年に「JUNYA WATANABE COMME des GARÇONS」、05年に「tao COMME des GARÇONS」、08年「GANRYU」などを展開しています。
