BALENCIAGAIs it とは?

スペイン人のクリストバル・バレンシアガによって1918年に設立されたオートクチュール・メゾン。その後1937年にパリ・ジョルジュサンク10番通りに創作拠点をおいてからは、すぐに“クチュールの建築家”と称されるほどパリジャンエレガンスを体現するデザイナーとして大きな注目を集めました。バレンシアガの死後、何人かのデザイナーを経て1997年にニコラ・ゲスキエールがメゾンのクリエイティブ・ディレクターに就任。彼の力量によって再び「BALENCIAGA」は絶大な影響力を誇り、賞賛を浴びる存在になりました。クラシカルかつエレガンスな佇まいのなかにフューチャリズムを織り込んだ彼のクリエーションは、大ブームとなったエディターズバッグと共に海外エディターやスーパーモデルを魅了し続けています。2011年には、故郷スペインに美術館、The Balenciaga Museumをオープン。故グレース・ケリーモナコ王妃や女優のマレーネ・ディートリッヒなどが着用したドレスがアーカイブとして展示されています。
